Metal powder injection molding technology (MetalPowderInjectionMolding, or MIM) is introducing modern plastic injection forming technology of powder metallurgy and form a new type of powder metallurgy net-shape forming technology.


The basic process is:1、 Solid powder and organic binder practice, evenly mixed after granulating in heating plasticizing state (~ 150 ℃) with injection forming   machine injection mold cavity crystallized8);

                                    2、The binders are then removed by chemical or thermal decomposition;

                                    3、The final product is obtained through sintering and densification.


Compared with traditional technology, MIM technology is characterized by high precision, uniform organization, excellent performance and low production cost. Its products are widely used in electronic information engineering, biological medical equipment, office equipment, automobile, machinery, hardware, sports equipment, watch industry, weapon and aerospace industry. It was invented by Parmatech of California in 1973, and was developed and popularized in many European countries and Japan in the early 1980s.
